What is your role within Wattsford Commercial Finance?

Principal Commercial Finance Broker and business owner

Tell me about your career to date and how you ended up in your position?

My career started with Farmway Limited (now Moles Country Stores) as an agricultural sales representative in Northumberland.  With the changing face of farming I retrained and worked for GBC (UK) Limited as a National Account Manager before joining Banner Business Supplies as a Government Contracts Manager. After 7 amazing years I moved to Remploy Limited where I successfully developed and grew a new marketplace for the company and in 2007 I joined Durham County Council as a Business Advisor and Coach and in 2011 relocated to the Isle of Man. On my return in I joined Northern Pinetree Trust before starting the business in 2016 initially providing business coaching, mentoring and business start up finance.  A year later the business expanded and our clients now had access to the full range of commercial and corporate finance services.

What does your role involve?

My role involves providing clients with commercial finance advice at all stages of the business life cycle, examples of which include:

  • Advising start up, small and high growth businesses looking to secure growth capital
  • Providing shareholders and senior management with business advice
  • Talking to clients about how they can fund both working and growth capital
  • Advising businesses looking to grow by acquisition
  • Recruiting new commercial finance brokers into our network

Throughout this journey Andrew not only provides commercial and business finance advice, but also works closely with Accountants, Solicitors, Architects, Property Developers, Lenders and Growth Fund Providers. Collaboration is vital because we are raising finance on a diverse range of matters which require input from multiple services.
