Farm Finance
We’re helping farmers and rural enterprise owners to successfully raise farm finance and farm diversification finance
Farm Finance
Unlike many finance brokers supporting farming and rural communities, Wattsford Commercial Finance has a genuine understanding and interest in agriculture, the countryside and it’s communities which led to our own diversification in establishing Finance for Agriculture in 2022.
Our Founder Andrew Wattsford, although not from a farming background started his career working for an agricultural merchant in Northumberland and studying Agricultural Merchanting at Brackenhurst Agricultural College (now part of Nottingham Trent University).
Andrew worked on an 800-acre mixed farm in the Scottish Borders prior to going to Brackenhurst and for a grain merchant in Lincolnshire as a student prior to joining Farmway, a co-operative agricultural merchant at their Hexham branch in Northumberland. Farmway is now part of Mole Valley Farmers.
Today, Andrew can often be found at Farmers Auction Marts across North Yorkshire, County Durham and Northumberland.
Andrew is a past member of Young Farmers.
Finance for Agriculture was established to meet the farm finance needs of the country’s farming and rural communities. A chance meeting before the Covid-19 lockdown at a business networking event led to our dedicated agricultural brand Finance for Agriculture.
The chance meeting was with a farming customer that Andrew visited whilst at Farmway.
